The most common question we get is also the least glamorous one. How much should I actually take?
There is no single correct answer, because nobody is built the same way. But there is a sensible method, and it is the one we have printed in our own guidebook since the beginning: start low, go slow, note how you feel, then decide the dose that works for you.
A jar of Grass & Co. mushroom capsules contains 60 vegan capsules, which is a month at the standard serving. Take them with water, at a time of day that fits your routine.
When you are new to functional mushrooms, begin at the lower end: one capsule a day rather than two. Give it a week or so. A lower starting dose lets you listen to your body and work out what suits you, rather than starting high and having nothing to adjust.
Our recommended serving across the range is one to two capsules per day of each blend.
Some people take more than one of our blends across a day, for example FOCUS in the morning and DREAM in the evening. If you do, follow the directions on each label, and do not exceed the stated serving of any product. There is no single milligram figure that makes a combination safe or unsafe for everyone.
For reference, here is what the label serving of each capsule blend contains:
Check overlapping ingredients too. Several blends contain vitamins such as B12 or D3, and some contain ginseng or other botanicals. If you already take a multivitamin or other supplements, or combine more than two products, speak to a pharmacist first.
Take them with water, with or without food, at a time that fits your routine. If you have a sensitive stomach, take them with a meal. Taking them consistently matters more than the exact timing.
Functional mushrooms are not stimulants. There is no hit, no jolt, nothing to feel in twenty minutes. You will see and feel the best results by taking them consistently for at least one month, so the nutrients have time to do something.
Our advice: four weeks of daily use before you judge it. Eight weeks with no noticeable difference is a perfectly good reason to stop.
We are not healthcare professionals. If you take any existing medication, speak to your GP or pharmacist before adding mushroom supplements to your routine. There is no definitive list of interactions, which is exactly why the conversation is worth having. Our mushrooms are classified as food supplements, not licensed medicines, and are not intended to treat any condition.
