Every batch of our mushroom capsules and powders is independently tested for both composition and safety, with results published on this page.

What We Measure

Mushrooms are rich in natural carbohydrates called polysaccharides. These include:

• Beta-Glucans – key polysaccharides found in mushroom fruiting bodies.
  
• Alpha-Glucans – starch-type polysaccharides, often naturally present in the mushroom structure.
  
• Total Glucans – the combined profile of both beta- and alpha-glucans.

We measure beta- and alpha-glucans separately using the Megazyme β-Glucan assay (K-YBGL). This provides a clear picture of each mushroom’s carbohydrate composition, rather than reporting only “total polysaccharides,” which can overstate the presence of bioactive compounds.

Safety & Purity

Every batch also undergoes a safety screen to confirm it meets strict quality standards:

• Heavy Metals – lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic (ICP-MS methods).
  
• Pesticide Residues – multi-residue analysis (LC-MS/MS & GC-MS/MS).
  
• Microbiology – bacteria, yeast, and mould checks (ISO methods).
  
• Mycotoxins – aflatoxins and ochratoxin A (LC-MS/MS).
  
• Allergens & Gluten – verified gluten-free where relevant (ELISA).
  
• Residual Solvents – where extracts involve solvent use (GC-FID).

What the Results Show

Every Certificate of Analysis (COA) we publish includes three values:

• % Beta-Glucan – typically 10–50% across our extracts.
  
• % Alpha-Glucan – usually around 28%.
  
• % Total Glucan – consistently close to 50%.
  

These figures reflect the natural carbohydrate profile of fruiting body mushroom extracts. Each species has its own pattern, for example, Lion’s Mane usually falls in the 20–25% range, Shiitake is higher, and Chaga is lower.

By testing every batch and publishing the COAs in full, we confirm our products are made from 100% fruiting bodies, with no fillers, grain, or mycelium.

Mushroom Profiles

Each mushroom species has its own glucan signature:

• Lion’s Mane – moderate beta-glucans with additional characteristic compounds.
  
• Reishi – glucans alongside naturally occurring triterpenes.
  
• Chaga – glucans plus polyphenols and melanin.
  
• Cordyceps – glucans plus nucleoside compounds such as cordycepin.
  
• Maitake & Shiitake – among the highest in beta-glucan content.
